I think it's about making your own luck. That's an adage I don't...um...adhere to, so it was kind of a stretch for me to think from a perspective that feels backwards to me.
lyrics
The only black cat in Portland
Crossed paths with me yesterday
His amber eyes told me something
I followed him on his way
Walked under 13 black ladders
Pushed down a mirror for fun
Knocked over every salt shaker in
666 restaurants
I know it’s all
What you got up inside
Your luck if falls
Only once you up and die
Go make your life
and I’ll stay here with mine
The only black cat in Portland
Will never ever die
Yeah and we walked back together
We found and bludgeoned our twins
With snakes we killed on our shoulders
While spitting into the wind
