I wrote the lyrics to this, sketched a very rough idea of what chords I wanted to play in my head, hit record, and improved the piano and vocal at the same time.
lyrics
What do you do with an old dead horse?
You cut into chunks of course
But when an elephant dies at the zoo
What does a keeper do?
You can’t grab a chainsaw
in front of the kids
And cut in into
Piles of bits
You have to show some tact
Dispose of it behind their backs
You wait until the day is done
And shut the door and have your fun
You say good bye to all the years
And chop of both his floppy ears
You cut through hips to sever legs
And cram them into garbage bags
You split the belly up the front
And carefully remove the trunk
And maybe if they’ve been real good
you’ll feed
The leftover scraps to your bears
So you’ll have to pardon me
If I feel no remorse
For seeing one dead elephant as a project that needs tackling
And a horse’s corpse
As just one more dead horse
